Megaweapon rebrands as Megawave

Megaweapon, Long Island, NY based pop-rock band has announced the official change of name to Megawave via Facebook live on Wednesday, February 5. Following the resignation of founding member and Megaweapon guitarist, Andrew Stieglitz in July 2018, the band put together a strategy to rebuild. Only a few months later, keyboardist, Ryan Moyer shared with the band that he would also be resigning. Both members left on good terms. After parting ways, the existing members of the band decided it was an opportune time to rebrand.

“Often when people would ask what the band’s name was, I would feel uncomfortable with the word weapon and felt that it had blocked us off from opportunities and listeners,” vocalist and founding member, Michelle Turk noted.

The band did not want to part with the fan base built around the ‘mega’ part of the name and started brainstorming a few ways to change it before finally deciding upon the name Megawave.

The band is currently holding auditions for a bassist and keyboardist and writing an EP with plans to return to the studio following their relaunch show on March 30th at the Creative Corner in Hempstead, NY, which will also be a celebration of Michelle’s birthday. They will be joined by Laurie Ann Creus, Dorks and Electric Dream. Information can be found on the flyer below:
